I stopped by my local glass shop to see about getting some acrylic for an overflow and what they had was some 1/4" acrylic that was textured on one side and smooth on the other. They said they would cut it to size that I want but I would have to put it together myself or if I bring in silicone to glue together but he will not guarantee it will hold as he said that silicone will not adhere to acrylic. He also said he would charge me $5-10 bucks per hole depending on the thickness of the glass, I'm thinking 1 3/4" holes for 1" bulkheads....

So after he said that about the acrylic I was thinking if plexi glass..... Any suggestions?

Plexiglass is just a brand name of acrylic. Get your bulkheads first to determine the hole size. I believe that BRS shows the bulkhead and the size hole they require.

Use weldon #16 for acrylic. has the consistency of silicone, and welds to the acrylic (it's actually liquid acrylic itself). It can be messy, so get some scrap for practice.

to do it right, get weldon #4 and an applicator. it's like water, but welds acrylic together very well.

watch some youtube videos.

So is weld on 16 better than weld on #4. Also what I would use to adhere to glass?

#16 is thicker and more like model glue so its easy to use. # 4 is as thin as water and you need an applicator. Once the overflow is assembled use reef safe silicone to glue it to the tank.
